Be a part of the Inaugural Class!
You can be a part of the first class to occupy our brand new facility! The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on June 7th. Mayor Ashton Hayward was on hand for the festivities. Gen Daniel Chappie James daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dana James, flew here from Los Angeles California to help us celebrate.
We will hold a one month course on Aerodynamics on Saturdays, beginning August 4th. The pre requisite to this course is to be a graduate of the summer program and to have registered in the sporty's ground school course online. Students should have received a logbook at graduation with a code and instructions to register for the course. We encourage students to start that course before attending the August class. Starting on September 29th we will host a 6 week aviation class for boys and girls ages 11-18. These classes will be held every Saturday through mid November. Classes are free of charge. Ret LCDR Robert Tiny Helms and staff member Miles Wright will teach aviation basics. African American aviation history, introduce several aviation programs available locally and nationally. There will be simulator training concentrating on aircraft instruments, strait and level flight and landings. If you are interested in this series we only have 10 slots available.
